A look back: Oct. 29, 1960

Carbon County led all of Pennsylvania, percentagewise, in the sale of Series E and H Savings Bonds. With a total of $1,393,842, this was 80 percent of the anticipated sales for 1960. Coming close to Carbon County were Beaver, Bedford, Perry and Wayne counties, with percentages in the 77-78 range. The sales period started Jan. 1 and ran through Sept. 30.

The Carbon County Savings Bond Committee consists of Wilbur G. Warner of Lehighton, chairman; Stuart Prutzman, Harry Sensinger and Lewis R. Williams, all of Lehighton, William H. Wilhelm and Joseph Boyle, Jim Thorpe, George Bright, Lansford, Nan Jenkins, Nesquehoning, and Miles Mertz, Palmerton.
