The vigilance of the Schuylkill County Probation Department cost the liberty of 10 defendants, including three from this area, who had their probation and/or parole revoked by county judges after a hearing.

Damon Lee Cuff, 19, of 245 Cedar St., Tamaqua, had his probation revoked by President Judge William E. Baldwin and was remanded to the county prison and the court will not consider an application for parole before Oct. 20.He had pleaded guilty last Nov. 16 to criminal attempt to commit burglary on May 9, 2011, by smashing rear window at Tommy's Italian Specialty Shop and smashing window of front door at Padora's Six Park Store, both in Tamaqua. He was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison. His 87 days of liberty were disallowed and he received credit for serving 36 days.Ali Lasanta Walton, 22, last known address, 12 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, had his probation revoked by Judge Baldwin and he was remanded to the county prison and his 260 days of liberty disallowed and added to his maximum sentence. He received credit for spending 20 days in prison. The court will consider an application for parole once the defendant has established an approved residence.Walton pleaded guilty on Nov. 30, 2010, to theft of a cell phone and was given credit for spending time in prison and was released on probation.Dustin Robert Gernert, 27, of 321 Hughes St., New Ringgold, has his probation revoked by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin and was re-sentenced on a charge of receiving stolen property to serve one and one-half to three years in a state correctional facility. On a charge of illegally obtaining an all terrain vehicle (ATV) received a concurrent sentence. Gernert originally pleaded guilty to the charges in August 2010 before Judge Charles M. Miller and was placed on probation for three years.Thomas Leroy Stewart, 29, Ringtown, had his probation revoked by Judge Baldwin and he was re-sentenced to serve three to 24 months in a state correctional facility on five counts of thefts from various stores in Pottsville area. He had pleaded guilty to the charges in May 2009 and received a state sentence of 18 to 36 months.Eric T. Berezwick, 35, Mahanoy City, had his probation revoked by Judge John E. Domalakes and he was remanded to the county prison and will be eligible for parole upon acceptance into a drug and alcohol inpatient treatment facility, followed by residing in a halfway house. His 148 days of liberty was disallowed and exerted his maximum time of imprisonment to March 5, 2013.Berezwick pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced last Oct. 27 by Judge Baldwin to serve 20 days in prison and then was released on 12 months probation.John William Houston, 24, Gordon, had his parole revoked by Judge Domalakes and re-sentenced him to serve his sentence under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 fee. He must reside at 124 Hollow Road, Ringtown, and can not relocate without a court order and can not possess or consume alcohol or illegal drugs and must seek employment. His 108 days of liberty were disallowed.Houston pleaded guilty last Sept. 21, 2011, to a charge of failure to comply with regulations as a sex offender and was sentenced by Judge Dolbin to serve 18 to 36 months in the county prison.Raymond Gerald Sadusky, 27, Shenandoah, had his parole revoked by Judge Baldwin and was recommitted to the county prison with 153 days of liberty disallowed. The court will not consider an application for parole before Nov. 15.Sadusky pleaded guilty on Dec. 10, 2010, to possession of a controlled substance and was placed on parole.John Joseph Kamant, 52, Shenandoah, had his probation revoked by Judge Baldwin and he was re-sentenced to serve one to 12 months in the county prison with credit for serving 25 days. Kamant pleaded guilty last Feb. 22 to loitering at night and was placed on probation 12 months.Charles J. Wison, 28, Ashland, had his parole revoked by Judge Baldwin and was committed to the county prison and his187 days of liberty was disallowed and added to his maximum sentence. He received credit for 40 days in prison. The court will not consider an application for parole before Sept. 14. Wilson pleaded guilty last Dec. 21 to retail theft and was placed on probation for 18 months.Jonathan Thomas Porter, 26, Stroudsburg, had his parole revoked by Judge Baldwin but he was immediately reparoled to allow him to be admitted to an inpatient facility for drug treatment and the parole department shall monitor his progress. He received credit for serving 128 days in prison.Porter pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia on Dec. 12, 2010, and was placed on probation.
