Five people were rescued from a burning home early Sunday morning in Port Carbon. The fire was reported at 1:40 a.m. at 101 Pottsville St. When police and firefighters arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the wood frame dwelling. Police rescued three people from the front second floor and two additional people from the rear area of the home. Fire companies from throughout Schuylkill county responded to the scene.
