A West Penn Township man was injured Tuesday morning in an incident along Blue Mountain Drive.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident about a half mile west of the intersection with Dorsett road. At the scene they found the rider of a dirt bike lying along the roadway with serious facial injuries.
The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center.
West Penn police officer Brent Getz reports the operator of the bike was having trouble starting it so a friend using an all-terrain vehicle took the bike in tow east on Blue Mountain Drive in an effort to "catch it in gear." Police state the rider hit some gravel on the roadway causing the bike to go down. West Penn Fire Company responded with fire police blocking off Blue Mountain Drive.
