The Coaldale High School Complex Commission honored one of its supporters posthumously and dedicated a plaque to Armon Schonberger, 1941 graduate of the school and the class orator, during a ceremony held there Sunday.

Schonberger, an avid golfer, died March 20, 1977, on an Allentown golf course. He was a business partner with his brother, Cy, in a hardware store started many years ago by their late parents in Coaldale, before moving to Lansford. Civic-minded, the brothers supported many community, church and school projects.

The plaque was presented to the commission by Armon’s brother and sister-in-law, Cy and Mary Schonberger.
