Lansford woman gets jail for drug dealing

A Lansford woman was sentenced to a county prison term on Tuesday after previously pleading guilty to a drug dealing charge.

Judge Steven R. Serfass sentenced Mary E. Troxell, 24, to serve three to one day less 24 months in prison on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.She was arrested on July 7 by Franklin Township police for an incident on Long Run Road. Police found crystal methamphetamine and previously conducted a controlled buy with Troxell.Troxell, a mother, told Serfass, “I made a mistake. I had a friend come to me to do her a favor,” claiming that was the reason she got involved in the drug sale.Defense attorney Lawrence J. Kansky told the court his client has taken steps to address her drug problem. He also requested that the jail time be served on consecutive weekends so Troxell could care for her children during the week and make arrangements for their care of weekends. Serfass agreed to let her serve the term on weekends.In addition to the jail term, Serfass imposed zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, she must render 100 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample.She will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. todayand serve it on three-day weekends.
