Local roundup: Results from Sept. 22
The Palmerton golf team clinched the Colonial League regular season title for the second straight season with victories over Moravian Academy and Bangor on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, the Northwestern field hockey team rallied to top Palisades in overtime. The Tigers’ boys and girls cross-country teams also swept a Colonial League meet, and earned victories in golf action.

Moravian Academy
Palmerton clinched the Colonial League title for a second year in a row with a sweep of Moravian Academy and Bangor.
The Bombers got the best of the Lions for a 400-438 win, and posted a 400-504 win over the Slaters.
The Bombers’ Josh Suto carded medalist honors with a 72, while Tyler Hager followed with a 74.
Derek Rea, Connor Reinhard and Jacob Sutton all posted scores in the 80s to help the Bombers secure the league crown.

Lauren Schellhamer’s goal in overtime lifted Northwestern to a 3-2 Colonial League victory over Palisades.
Schellhamer also added an assist on the Tigers’ first goal of the game, which was scored by Brooke Page. Charlotte Horn also scored in the win.
Angelina Day and Ashley Amato both had goals for the Pirates.
Palmerton-Bangor
Two first-half goals helped Bangor secure a 2-1 Colonial League win over Palmerton.
Taylor Brands and Mattie Albert added the Slaters’ goals.
Emily Baumgardt posted the Bombers’ lone goal with a second-half score, while keeper Shannon Dougherty finished with six saves.

Moravian Academy-Notre Dame GP-Saucon Valley at Palisades
The Northwestern boys and girls both earned a sweep in a six-team Colonial League meet.
The Tigers’ Angelina Klein led the way with a first-place finish in the girls’ meet with a time of 19:04, while teammates Maci Fisher (fifth) and Kailyn Jones (seventh) followed with top-10 finishes.
Sam Bower (3rd), Matt Santana (5th), Cole Chukoskie (6th) and Nate Vincent (7th) sparked the Tigers’ sweep with top-10 finishes in the boys’ race.
The Palmerton boys went 2-2, while the Lady Bombers were swept.
The Bombers’ Natalie Mosier pushed Klein, but placed second (19:11).
Owen Hibell posted a Bombers’ best with an eighth-place finish.

Tamaqua recovered from a first set setback to finish with a 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 26-24 win over Lourdes Regional.

Weatherly dropped a 25-14, 25-16, 25-9 decision to Millersburg.
The Wreckers received five kills and seven digs from Ashley James, while Gianna Lowman added four kills, two blocks and five digs.

Notre Dame swept Northwestern 3-0 in a Colonial League match.
Brynn Buschta had 20 assists, 11 digs, three kills and two aces for the Tigers.
Samantha Moss had nine digs and two aces, while Ella Carson and Jenna Breininger added 16 digs and 12 kills, respectively.
Catasauqua-Palmerton
Palmerton defeated Catasauqua for a 25-19, 25-21, 25-13 in Colonial League action.

The Franklin Township Mud Dawgs improved to 6-2 on the season with a 16-10 victory over the Breinigsville Marines.
After trailing 3-0 in the first inning, the Mud Dawgs pounded out 10 hits, scoring runs in each inning.
Jayse Lawrence led the Mud Dawgs with a double and two singles, while Cody Snyder singled, walked and scored three runs.
