Upcoming shows at Mauch Chunk Opera House

Here are some shows coming to the Mauch Chunk Opera House, 14 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe. All shows are 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted:

• Jan. 10: 33 1/3’s Killer Queen Experience: Not satisfied with just playing the “hits” however, the Killer Queen Experience also plays Queen’s quintessential album, “A Night at the Opera” in its entirety, featuring tracks like “You’re My Best Friend,” “The Prophet’s Song” and, the operatic masterpiece, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

• Jan. 11: Popa Chubby: Popa Chubby’s style translates into blues-rock numbers about, in Popa’s words, “love, life, betrayal, diesel, jet fuel, marriage, murder, stress and passion,” subjects that many would say are the only ones that matter.

• Jan. 17: Driftwood: As natives of Binghamton, the members of Driftwood hail from a working town, but play music rooted in the land, leaning alternately into folk, old-time, country, punk and rock, depending on their personal moods and their songs’ needs.

• Jan. 18: Us and Floyd Tribute Band: The band covers songs from the vast catalog of albums including: “Atom Heart Mother,” “Meddle,” “Dark Side of The Moon,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Animals,” “The Wall,” “The Final Cut,” “Momentary Lapse of Reason” and “The Division Bell.”

• Jan. 19: SOULSHINE Allman Bros. Tribute: The event in the memory of Bill Morse. This first event will feature the music of the Allman Brothers, by New York based band SOULSHINE. All proceeds from show will be donated to the Mauch Chunk Opera House for its continued renovation projects.

• Jan. 24: Damn the Torpedoes: Whether performing note for note renditions of the studio recordings or engaging the audience with actual live versions of TPATH’s concert performances, Damn the Torpedoes delivers a great Tom Petty experience.

• Jan. 25: Artie Lange: For over 30 years, Artie Lange has been making people laugh as a stand-up comic, television and film actor, best-selling author and radio host. Shows will be held at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

• Jan. 31: Gary Hoey: World-renowned rock guitarist Gary Hoey’s first break came in 1987 when Ozzy Osbourne liked Hoey’s tape enough to fly him to LA for an audition. Although Zakk Wylde wound up with the gig, Ozzy recommended Hoey move to LA where he was certain he would get noticed. So he did and it paid off.
