Gerald Jackson, president of the Jim Thorpe Area School Board, was the speaker at last night’s meeting of the Jim Thorpe Area PTA. His presentation included the showing of preliminary plans for the proposed senior high annex that is expected to get under construction this winter.
Jackson said the new structure will require 24,135 square feet and will make space available for classrooms, science, business, typing, arts and crafts, shop, faculty, homemaking, industrial arts, music, television and health rooms, a library, gymnasium and boys’ and girls’ locker rooms and showers.
The combination auditorium-gymnasium in the present building will be used jointly as an auditorium and cafeteria under the new plan, he said.
