A man who identified himself as “the Loner” telephoned a bomb threat to the office of Carbon County Clerk of Courts Anne Cipko in the courthouse in Jim Thorpe at 9:03 a.m. today.

Mrs. Jeanette Scapura of Lansford, deputy clerk of courts, said when she answered the phone, a male voice asked, “Is this the courthouse?”

When she replied “yes,” the man responded, “This is the Loner - get the hell out of there - the courthouse is going to blow up at 10:15,” she said.

After the county commissioners and authorities were notified, the building was evacuated in minutes and an extensive search of the building was completed, but nothing was found.
