Weatherly’s golf team and Jim Thorpe’s tennis squad both picked up wins in local action Tuesday.
The Wreckers defeated Marian, while the Olympians blanked Tamaqua.

Ben Ramirez captured medalist honors to help Weatherly gain a 367-422 Schuylkill League Division 2 victory over Marian.
Ramirez fired an 82 at Mountain Laurel to finish 12 strokes ahead of the next closest golfer. Teammate Antonio Colecio finished with a 94.
The Colts (0-2) were led by Walter Pavlik, who recorded a 96.

Saucon Valley had four golfers finish in the 80s to post a 430-495 Colonial League win over Northwestern.
The Panthers’ Colin Zavacky earned medalist honors with a score of 81. Erik Smith followed with an 83.
Tyler Stasko was low man for the Tigers (0-2) with a 91.

Jim Thorpe won every match in straight sets to gain a 5-0 victory over Tamaqua.
The Olympians’ singles players - Christy McLean, Trista Gehris and Gabby Nunez - only lost a combined five games in their three wins.
Thorpe also gained decisive decisions from the doubles teams of Sophia Samoleski and Tara McLean, and Hailey Trine and Kaylinn Trine.

FALL BASEBALL
Franklin Twp.-S. Parkland
The Franklin Township Mud Dawgs won their opening game of the Parkland Youth League fall baseball season with a 7-6 walk off win over the South Parkland Aces.
Cole Dietz pitched four innings and struck out six, without walking a batter. Cody Snyder pitched the last two innings in relief to earn the win.
The winners took the lead with a five-run second inning, and also added one run each in both the fifth and sixth frames.
The Mud Dawgs received a double, single, and three RBIs from Dietz, while Brady Stubits singled in the bottom of the sixth and scored the game-winning run.
For South Parkland, Nick Rivera finished with two singles and a double.
