The Lansford Police Department was presented with $500 from the owners of the Halftime Bar and Grill at the Zoo in Lansford on Thursday.
The police department then donated that money to Lansford Alive to be used for Lansford Alive’s Halloween Festival.
Mayor Michele Bartek of Lansford accepted the check on behalf of the police department from Kevin and Deanna Zuercher, owners of the Halftime Bar and Grill at the Zoo.
The check was then given to Bob Silver, vice president of Lansford Alive.
Mayor Bartek said because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no door-to-door trick-or-treating this year in Lansford.
Silver said the Halloween Festival will be held at the parking lot of the Lansford Pool on Oct. 30 with the rain date of Oct. 31.
It will be held regardless of COVID-19 restrictions, Silver said. If schools are in session at the time, the event will allow in-person attendance at the pool lot.
If schools are not in session, then the event will be with a drive-thru format.
Silver said the Halloween Festival includes games, prizes and giveaways.
Kevin Zuercher said his bar and grill had also donated $4,000 to the Fraternal Order of Police from proceeds raised during a Back-to-Blue motorcycle ride on Aug. 8.
