Swastika symbols covered in Jim Thorpe park

Jim Thorpe police are investigating a series of swastika symbols spray painted on trees in Twining Park.

Police Chief Joe Schatz said someone discovered the symbols Tuesday night and it was called in to the department on Wednesday morning.

“We don’t know at this point exactly when they were painted on the trees and we’re encouraging anyone with information to contact us,” Schatz said.

The marks were covered with brown paint by borough workers.

Schatz said police have not had any other reports of similar symbols popping up around town.

“It seems isolated so far to Twining Park,” he said.

Anyone with information can contact police at 570-325-4995.
