Residents to show support for post office

On Thursday, a group of Carbon County residents concerned about the recent changes enacted by the Postmaster General will demonstrate their support for the Post Office.

Even though Louis DeJoy has announced that he will not make any further changes to the post office until after the election, those changes he has already made have resulted in mail delays of more than 10 days. Those changes should be reversed and no changes that result in delayed mail should be made at any time - even after the election.

Linda Christman, one of the organizers of Thursday’s demonstration says, “My prescription medicines are arriving late and my packages to my grandson are arriving really late. Like many seniors, I depend on the Postal Service.”

Frank Carazo, whose father was the Postmaster in Palmerton, will be at the demonstration.

Carazo says, “The changes to the post office have been a disaster, and any further changes would only add to the damage.”

As part of the event, baked goodies and flowers will be delivered to the Jim Thorpe Post Office as a thank-you to postal workers.
