A Carbon County woman is facing charges of neglect of animals following an incident that occurred on June.

State police at Lehighton said troopers responded to 45 Tamarack Terrace, located in the Indian Mountain Lake, Penn Forest Township, on June 12 for a report of multiple cats left abandoned in a home. The owner of the residence was unavailable to care for the cats.

Troopers made contact with the property owner, identified as Denise Osborne, 49, who would not voluntarily surrender the cats. Between June 13 and 15 troopers secured multiple search warrants for the home. A total of 25 cats were removed.

Charges were filed against Osborne under three subsections of neglect of animals statute, 25 counts each.
