A two-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon on Route 873 (North Walnut Street) in Slatington left three people injured, one seriously, according to borough police.
Police did not release the names of the people who were involved in the crash but said the seriously injured person is a 38-year-old Slatington woman.
Police Chief David Rachman said she was flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She is expected to survive, police said.
The crash took place shortly before 4 p.m. in the 200 block of North Walnut Street. Police said the woman, driving a sedan northbound, crossed into the opposite lane and struck a pickup truck head-on as it was southbound. The police chief said the woman was trapped inside the wreckage until being freed by emergency personnel.
The driver of the pickup truck and a passenger were also injured. They were treated at the scene, police said.
Because of the wreckage, North Walnut Street was shut down for over three hours for cleanup operations.
Rachman said the investigation is ongoing.
