The Lewistown Valley Garden Club met Oct. 27 at Knepper's Inn for the annual banquet.A moment of silence was held in memory of Dot Ross. Birthday wishes were extended to Louise Flexer.The program was based on the history of Pennsylvania's individual counties. Kathy McGee and Judy Kellner provided a fun quiz on those histories.The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the social hall. Carol Kohn and Kim Morgan will serve as the lunch committee. The program will include a craft project.Veterans honoredTamaqua Masonic Lodge 238, Free and Accepted Masons, will honor all military veterans from the greater Tamaqua area on Wednesday. Festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, Route 54 and Shawn Avenue in Hometown.The evening will include a brief ceremony, presentation of pins to the veterans and refreshments.All veterans and their families and friends are welcome.Reservations are strongly recommended to ensure there are enough pins and refreshments.For more information or to respond, call 570-668-4532 or 570-668-0354.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a thank offering. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Bible study sessions are held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays.Also next Thursday, the cemetery board will meet at 5:30 p.m. and the Consistory will meet at 6:30 p.m.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at St. John United Church of Christ. Sunday school classes will begin at the end of the junior sermon.
