Lehighton Area School District recently held its 10th annual spelling bee for selected fourth-grade students.
Five students were selected from each of the four elementary schools in the district.Students competed in four different rounds, spelling words from the areas of math, science, social studies and reading.When all was said and done, Callie Krupa, from Mrs. Cressley's class at Shull-David Elementary, earned the right to be called champion.The final spelling word came from the area of science, as Callie correctly spelled cumulonimbus.For her efforts, Callie earned a certificate and Visa gift card.
