Tamaqua man makes the most of shopping spree at Boyer’s

The Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation organized its first Boyer’s shopping spree this fall. Raffle tickets were $10, and were available at home football games and during various Tamaqua events throughout the fall.

The Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation is an independent organization that generates and distributes financial support to enrich and expand the educational experience of students in the Tamaqua Area School District. This requires generous donations and continual fundraising in order to support the elementary, middle and high school initiatives and scholarships.

Someone from the area put Matt Moyer’s name on a raffle card, and he ended up the winner.

“I was very surprised when I was told I won,” Moyer said. “I got mainly meats and a lot of Tide Pods. I had a strategy. I walked through the store right before my shopping spree and got over $1,200 of goods.”

Moyer, of Tamaqua, had 10 minutes to fill up his shopping cart with as much as he could at 7 a.m. on Dec. 5 at the Tamaqua Boyer’s.

“I want to thank the angel who put my name on the ticket and also the Blue Raider Foundation for doing the fundraiser.”
