So much is happening so fast. And there is so much information being shared about our situation. Two concepts are really worthwhile for all of us to understand.

1. Systemic racism

2. Dismantling the police

I like things explained to me like I’m a fourth-grader (no offense, kids). YouTube has a lovely, short, simple explanation called “Systemic Racism Explained.” Easy to understand, important to get.

Dr. Phillip Atiba Goff, on YouTube, MSNBC, gives a good beginning explanation of “what does it mean to dismantle a police department?” If defunding police is a phrase that makes you crazy, let Dr. Goff explain it because the idea is not to get rid of the police. (I heard someone suggest it should be called “relieving the police.”)
