In the wake of the rumors that have been circulating throughout Polk Township regarding Nestle Waters NA surveying residents about their feelings regarding water extraction, Nestle has reached out to the Times News with the following statement.
"At this time, Nestlé Waters is "not monitoring springs or exploring the potential for a spring source in the CJERP region," Nestle spokeswomen Kerrin Garripoli said. "As a result, we have also not conducted any surveys or community outreach to this effect in Polk Township."The CJERP region includes Chestnuthill, Jackson, Eldred, Ross and Polk townships.Monday evening the Eldred Township Board of Supervisors agreed to permit Nestle to break the lease on its office space at the community center which was the final presence the international food giant had in the township.Supervisor Gary Hoffman also requested that the township solicitor send a letter requesting that Nestle permanently seal the wellheads and return Sandy Hill Path to its prior condition.
