Students were recognized for winning first place in the American Legion Auxiliary Americanism Essay Contest at the Four County County Council level. The wrote on the topic, "How Can I Show my Patriotism to My Community?" From left are, Sue Anthony, Americanism chairman, Lehighton Legion Auxiliary Unit 314; Geoff Ebbert, student at Lehighton Area High School, representing Lehighton Legion Auxiliary Unit 314; Henry Hinchey, eighth grade student at St. John Neuman Regional School, Palmerton, representing American Legion Auxiliary Unit 899; Geraldine Cannon, vice president, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 922; Cameron Reifinger, fourth grade student at St. Elizabeth Regional School, winner at American Legion Auxiliary Unit 426; and Kaileigh Barnes, fifth grade student at Weatherly Area Elementary School, representing Legion Auxiliary Unit 360. The students recently were honored at a luncheon held at the Brown and Lynch American Legion Post 9, Easton. Also a winner was Emily Schaude, a 10th grade student at Lehighton Area High School and representing Lehighton Legion Auxiliary Unit 314. Their essays are now on the state level of judging.
