A Bethlehem man is facing charges relating to an incident in Jim Thorpe.
Borough police said on Aug. 19 about 4:31 p.m. they received a complaint from Jennifer Purcell, of 209 North St., that she gave permission to Stephon M. Lawrence, 45, of 2935 Westminister Road, for the use of her 2008 Buick Lacrosse to transport his belongings to his residence.Purcell told police that she informed Lawrence to return the vehicle after he was done. She stated Lawrence contacted her several times and provided misleading information as to the whereabouts of the vehicle.Police entered the vehicle into the state's database as stolen.On Sept. 17 Bethlehem city police contacted borough officers and informed them they had Lawrence and the vehicle in custody. Bethlehem police had Lawrence in custody for an outstanding felony warrant issued out of Lehigh County for theft by unlawful taking.Borough police said they secured a felony three warrant for Lawrence charging him with receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor two count of unauthorized use of an automobile.
