Bob Henninger of Summit Hill, a teacher in the Panther Valley School District and longtime collector of mine memorabilia, who spends much of his leisure in his basement machine shop, has developed a miniature version of the flame safety lamp used by miners to detect explosive gases underground.
The 1.25-inch model machined by Henninger is complete to the last detail and is patterned basically after the Koehler and Clanny flame safety lamps. Made from bronze or aluminum stock, each complete miniature assembled by Henninger is the product of six hours of work on his metal lathe, drill press and grinder.
