Polk audit finished

The Polk Township tax collector has supplied missing documents and is in the clear.

In April, the auditors for Polk Township reported to the supervisors that they had been unable to complete their audit of the township's tax collector, Carolyn Meinhart, due to items missing from the paperwork she had delivered for the audit. In a letter dated Feb. 20, the township auditors made several suggestions to the supervisors regarding the township finances, but more importantly, noted that they were unable to complete the audit of the tax collector due to missing information. The letter noted that the check registry from January through Feb. 21 was missing.Deposit slips from January, June, July, August, September and December were missing, as were the beginning and ending balances. This week, Supervisor Michael Hurley announced that Meinhart had complied with requests for the missing documents and that the audit was complete. No deficiencies were found, and the matter is closed.
