Early-morning fire damages home

An early morning fire on Van Doren Mews in Albrightsville caused significant damage to the home of Anthony Capone.

Capone said the source of the fire in unknown at this time.

“I am so grateful to the firefighters for what they did,” Capone said. “There must have been 20 trucks out here.”

The state fire marshal was on the scene around 9 a.m. but said it was too early to determine the cause.

“All I know,” Capone said, “was that it was too big for me to handle.”

Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 was on command at the scene of the fire. Also responding were station 1, Lake Harmony and Albrightsville fire companies.

Polk Township and Tunkhannock Township volunteer fire companies from Monroe County also responded to the call.

Lehighton ALS also assisted in the operation.
