The Coaldale Borough Council accepted the resignation of Councilman Donald J. Butts during its monthly meeting held last night. At the same time, the council filled a seat on the Lansford-Coaldale Joint Water Authority in which Butts was one of six people nominated for the position.

The appointment went to Robert Demyanovich but not after Mayor John Radocha cast the tiebreaking vote.

Claire Remington and Robert Hoben favored Demyanovich while Frank DeFebo and Geno Poli favored Butts. In unusual voting, council members Clarence Keich and Warren Balliet voted for both Demyanovich and Butts.

The other candidates were Stephen Tentylo, Ted Bortnick, Joseph Hnat and Charles Davidson.
