Carbon County court

A Monroe County man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Carbon County court to two drug counts while a Carbon man was sentenced on a conduct charge to which he previously pleaded guilty. Both appeared before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic.

Jeffrey Adams,

58, of East Stroudsburg, pleaded to two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident on Jan. 27, 2018, in Franklin Township. He was in a vehicle stopped by police and found in possession of the paraphernalia and methamphetamine. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office.

Adams is currently an inmate at the state correctional institution at Mahanoy, Schuylkill County, awaiting action on a state parole violation. When he was arrested on the drug charges he was on state parole. He told Nanovic he will not be resentenced on the parole violation until after the Carbon case is done.

Nanovic sentenced him to serve three to 12 months in prison on each count, with the terms running concurrently, and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance imposed on drug or alcohol use.

Sentenced

Jason Gleason Sr.,

41, of Weissport, was sentenced to serve 45 days to 12 months in prison on a charge of persistent disorderly conduct.

He was arrested on Nov. 19, 2019, when sheriff deputies went to his residence to serve a warrant. Gleason climbed out a window and ran but was eventually caught. A charge of flight to avoid apprehension was dropped in a plea deal with the DA’s office.

Nanovic also ordered Gleason to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

He was given credit for 16 days already served and will begin serving the remaining 29 days at 8 p.m. on June 12.

Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
