3 Schuylkill crashes in 1 day
State police at Frackville had a busy day Oct. 21 investigating three separate crashes on Schuylkill County roads.
Only minor injuries were reported in two of the crashes.Troopers said a crash was reported at 6:28 a.m. along Clamtown Road at Schuylkill Road in East Brunswick Township. Jasmin McCarroll, 29, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima westbound when she failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and lost control of the car. The Nissan went onto the north berm when McCarroll steered the vehicle back across the eastbound lanes, where it struck an embankment along the south berm. Upon impact the Nissan rolled over and came to rest on its wheels along the south berm.McCarroll was taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale, after complaining of neck pain. The Nissan is registered to Tamaqua Rentals and sustained disabling damages.McCarroll was cited for the crash, troopers said.A crash occurred at 12:41 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Kline Township. Troopers said Henry A. Robinson, 81, of Durham, North Carolina, was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius southbound when he traveled onto the east berm and struck an embankment. Robinson was not injured but the Toyota had to be towed from the scene.Robinson was cited for the crash.The third crash occurred at 3:17 p.m. along Tuscarora Mountain Drive in Ryan Township. Troopers said Kaitlin B. Kowker, 17, of Frackville, was driving a 2013 Ford Focus southbound when she veered off the road and onto the berm where the Ford struck and sheared off a utility pole. The car continued south and struck a large tree head-on.Kowker was evaluated at the scene by Ryan Township ambulance personnel and then transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville, by family members for observation. Kowker was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle's air bag was deployed. Damages were termed heavy to the Ford. Ryan Township Fire Company and Citizens Fire Company of Mahanoy City volunteers assisted at the scene.Troopers said Kowker was cited for the crash.
