Carbon County court - guilty pleas
Defendants in pending drug cases entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court. Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted pleas from the following:
Nicholas Hunter Lambert,30, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Feb. 11 by state police at Lehighton following a vehicle stop along First Street in Lehighton. Lambert is currently serving one year of probation on another charge.Serfass placed him on probation for six months, consecutive to his current term, and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 25 hours of community service.Nicholas Wilson Kasztyski,30, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on July 19 by Jim Thorpe police in the area of 431 South Ave. Police were serving a warrant on Kasztyski for another charge, and while taking him into custody they found the drug paraphernalia on him.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and render 50 hours of community service.Richard J. Hartman,41, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on May 4 by Jim Thorpe police when they responded to Tommy's Steak & Subs shop at 72 W. Fourth St., for a retail theft incident. In exchange for the plea a retail theft charge was dropped.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation, make restitution of $14 to Tommy's, render 50 hours of community service and to stay out of the victim's business place during the period of probation.Holly Marie Rex,28, of Whitehall, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Nov. 25, 2015, by Lehighton police following a traffic stop on Route 443. She was found in possession of a pipe used for smoking illegal drugs.She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Jaclyn Derr,36, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on July 3 in the 400 block of Alley G Avenue by Palmerton police. She was found to have a pipe in her possession used to smoke marijuana.She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
