State police announced around noon Thursday that a missing hiker was found deceased. They said there is no danger to the public.
Previously, state police at Fogelsville said they were searching for a Bucks County man who went missing while hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Troopers said on Friday Michael William Kaiser, 56, of Newportville, entered the Appalachian Trail at Route 309 in Lynn Township, Lehigh County, at an unknown time.
On Saturday Kaiser was in communication via cellphone to his brother in which he took a picture of the terrain similar to Bake Oven Knob but has not been heard from since. On Tuesday his brother reported him missing to the Bristol Township Police Department in Bucks County. Kaiser is described as 6 feet 1 inches tall with brown eyes and an avid and expert hiker.
On Wednesday troopers located Kaiser’s Ford F-150 pickup truck in the vicinity of Bake Oven Road. A large number of troopers from Fogelsville, Bethlehem, Frackville and Lehighton barracks were canvassing the woods starting this morning in an attempt to locate Kaiser.
