The Tamaqua Middle School Music Department will present its annual "Holiday Music Program" on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the middle school sixth grade band and the middle school choruses.
The Sixth Grade Band under the direction of Marsha Rodgers will open the concert with "The Simple Gifts of Christmas" arranged by Larry Clark. They will then play a holiday classic "Ding Dong! Merrily on High" by Andrew Balent. The band closes the first half of the program with "Countdown to Christmas".The middle school General Chorus comprised of students from grades sixth, seventh, and eighth grades will begin the second half of the evening's program. The chorus begins with "Lift Up Your Voice, Alleluia" by Sally Albrecht. They concert continues with the chorus singing "Season of Wonder, Season of Light" by David Neches. "Candle in the Window" is their last selection.The middle school Select Chorus will close the program with "Sing Out a Joyful Song" by Jean Perry. Their second selection is a Donald Moore original entitled "Carol of the Star". The concert will close with the chorus singing "Sing We Now of Christmas". Both middle school choirs are under the direction of John Buglio.Accompanists for the middle school choirs are Hannah Betz, Cailyn Joseph, Sirra Petrucci, and Faith Roberts.The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m.
