Bishop & Company is planning an expansion of its Weissport plant that will mean an additional 75 to 100 jobs for this area.

Al Bishop, partner in the blouse manufacturing firm, said construction of a 7,500-square-foot addition is scheduled to start in August. He said operations in the new section should begin in late September.

The expansion will increase the number of workers to more than 400 in the two plants operated by the company.

Bishop revealed the plans for the first time last night to Weissport Borough Council, asking the board to take steps to increase water pressure to the plant because the company wants to equip the new building with a sprinkler system.
