Computer classes available at the Palmerton Area Library

The Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton will be offering computer classes again this fall. Two classes will be offered: Learn the Basics and Intermediate Computer Skills.

The first class, Learn the Basics, is for students with no computer experience. Students will learn what the computer can do for them. They will learn to set up their mouse, keyboard and monitor while working with Windows and installed programs. They will learn to organize and save documents and files.

They will learn general internet concepts, view various browsers and search engines. They will learn how to send, receive, save and print email and attachments. This class meets five evenings from 5-7 p.m. starting on Oct. 2 at the library.

The Intermediate Computer Skills class will meet four times beginning on Nov. 6. Learners should complete the Basic class before proceeding to the intermediate level.

Students will learn to use menus and toolbars to accomplish basic tasks including selecting/highlighting, scrolling, saving and printing.

They will create, edit, revise and format a document. They will learn to create spreadsheets with lists and columns. They will learn to make labels, tables and charts. They will create simple presentations with graphic images and music and photos.

For both classes students may bring their own laptops or use the laptops available at the library. Students must register ahead of time by calling the library at 610-826-3424.
