A Monroe County man is facing several charges in connection with the theft of a taxi.
Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched to the Welcome Center at A Poccono Country Place, in Coolbaugh Township, at 11:06 p.m. on April 17 to a report of the theft of a taxi.On scene officers were told by the taxi driver he picked up a fare from a casino and went to the Welcome Center to obtain a pass. When he came out of the center his taxi was gone. It was later found up the road at the entrance to the K&L gate.Police said surveillance video showed once the taxi driver got out of the vehicle no one else got in or out. Police said they were able to identify the passenger of the taxi as Jarvis Hardy, 32, of 8219 Sunset Drive, Tobyhanna. Police were unable to make contact with Hardy that night.Charges of theft, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of an automobile, theft of services and driving while operating privileges suspended-DUI related, have been filed against Hardy.
