Wing night

Wing night will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, 259 Lime St., Bowmanstown. Eat in or take out.

Surf and turf raffle

A surf and turf raffle will be held at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, 259 Lime St., Bowmanstown from 6-9 p.m. on May 4. Ticket includes a platter and beverage.

Basket bash

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton will hold its annual basket bash from 4-7 p.m. Monday. The doors open at 4 and tickets may be dropped until 6:45 p.m. The drawing will be at 7 p.m. The kitchen will be open.

Support group

A Monthly Grief and Loss Support Group will meet at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) at 1 p.m. May 8. Directed by professional counselor Sue Featro, this group is for people experiencing grief due to trauma, loss or death. It is an effort to assist people in the surrounding community to heal and find peace. Susan will also be a guest speaker during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on May 26, where she will speak about the group and the grief process.

Mother’s Day celebration

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, is inviting all women to share in some great musical entertainment followed by a turkey dinner on the Sunday before Mother’s Day, May 5. The men of the church will be doing he cooking and serving. Doors open at 3 p.m. The entertainment featuring Dave and Brenda Rehrig Duo begins at 4 p.m., with dinner being served at 5 p.m. Dinner is a turkey platter with choice of beverage. All women are invited. Young ladies 12 and older are welcome. So leave the men at home, bring a friend and enjoy the evening.

Support group

The Carbon County Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, is an ongoing support group for parents, grandparents and adult siblings grieving the loss of a child, grandchild or sibling. The group will meet May 7 and the first Tuesday of each month from 7-9 p.m. at the Palmerton Community Ambulance building, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The club is open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.

Palmerton council

The regular meetings of the Palmerton Borough Council will be held at 7 p.m. in the Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. The meeting for the month of May are May 9 and 23.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, SOS, eggs, omelets or popular Fire House Mess. Choice of meats are bacon, ham, sausage, or scrapple and includes home fries, juice and coffee. Blue Mountain Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library at 7 p.m. on May 7. This group explores all things related to fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, etc. Come check it out. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month.
