Zinc City
The first event for the year for the Zinc City Motorcycle Club, 10485 Interchange Road, Kresgeville, is a Youth Day Drag Academy from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 18. Learn to drag race a motorcycle on a drag strip with a real light tree. Classroom instruction, dragstrip training, real racing. Lunch provided. For information, RSVP to 570-234-9146.
A Spring Bike Run will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19.
Community meal
A free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. May 14 at St. John’s UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Come enjoy a free meal and fellowship.
Library board
The Library Board of Directors of the Palmerton Area Library will meet at 4 p.m. May 15 at the library. Meetings are open to the public.
Class of 1955
Palmerton Area High School Class of 1955 will hold a luncheon meeting at 12:30 p.m. on May 16. The class will meet at Knepper’s Inn, 1986 W. Penn Pike, New Ringgold. Call Dorothy at 610-826-4751 for information or questions.
Historical society
The Palmerton Area Historical Society welcomes Ray Finkelstein, member of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society, who will enlighten the group with the history of covered bridges. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. May 13 in the Knights Gallery of the Palmerton Area Library. This area is handicap accessible. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Library teens
A meeting of the teen group of the Palmerton Area Library will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. May 16. The group is for teens in fifth through 12th grade. Come try “Painting by Sticker”! The group will also discuss upcoming volunteer opportunities and ideas for future activities.
Purse bingo
A Mother’s Day Purse Bingo will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Co., 105 Firehouse Road, Palmerton (Trachsville). Doors open at 1 p.m., bingo starts at 2 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The event is hosted by Pa. Outdoor Veterans. All proceeds will benefit the veteran and family programs for 2019.
Blood drive
There is a new home for the Palmerton Miller-Keystone Blood Center Community Blood Drive. The drive will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. May 13. Visit www.GIVEaPINT.org for online scheduling. Use Sponsor code 1361.
