A New Jersey murder suspect was apprehended Tuesday in Monroe County after police responded to a domestic incident.
Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched to 1158 Jewel Terrace in the A Pocono Country Place development in Coolbaugh Township at 7:34 a.m. for a domestic incident.Upon arrival police were met at the development’s entrance gate by a woman who said a man she was having an argument, later identified as Meljah Oliver, 31, of Newark, New Jersey, was possibly wanted for murder in Newark. Police were able to verify that a warrant existed for Oliver for murder.Police attempted to make contact with Oliver who was inside the Jewel Terrace address but he would not come out the door. After about 45 minutes police were able to get Oliver to come out of the home and he was taken into custody.He was arraigned before District Judge Anthony D. Fluegel, of Tobyhanna, on the arrest warrant. He was later released to the custody of detectives from the Newark police department after Oliver waived extradition.
