A massive General State Authority bill signed Thursday by Gov. Raymond Shafer provides for 23 Lehigh Valley and area projects costing $43.7 million. The total cost for the capital improvements to be financed by the GSA over the next two years amounts to nearly $700 million.
Among the projects to be funded are the main hospital building of the Coaldale State General Hospital, which is listed at $6.5 million, plus $5,000 for land acquisition.In Carbon County, $416,000 has been allocated for the Hickory Run State Park in Kidder Township, where camping facilities will be constructed. A Monroe County project is listed at $448,000 for a driver examination point and substation.
