CCTI inducts new members into honor society

Carbon Career & Technical Institute inducted 20 members into its National Technical Honor Society during a ceremony and banquet Thursday night at the school.

Principal Brent Borzak opened the ceremony by lauding the charitable work of NTHS members and encouraging them to use the experiences to their benefit after leaving CCTI."The leadership, honesty, dedication and workmanship you learned will help you in all your endeavors in life and as you enter the work force," Borzak said. "The training you received here is second to none. A skilled labor force is in demand. Go out there and take it on."The National Technical Honor Society currently serves approximately 80,000 active members and nearly three quarters of a million since its inception in 1984.CCTI's chapter started in the 1989-90 school year. It was the first chapter in northeast Pennsylvania.New inductees include Andrew Frable, Britteny Marzen, Brandi Beers, Katelynn Scott, Skylar Rutan, Kayla Bumberger, Joseph Swan, Kelsey Rimsky, Cassandra Lombardi, Chloe Marx, Connor Samuels, Erik Reichard, Christopher Phillips, Nichita Golovca, Jacob Snyder, Bailey Wright, Ashley Weiner, Kenneth Dotter, Nathan Washburn and Dakota Kalavoda.Second-year members include Ansleigh Cressman, Jonathan Smith, Shannon Streff, Jocelyn Mansberry, Kealey Conville, Kristie Schaeffer, Sarah Parsons, Ruthann Dittman, Miranda Green, Ronald Plaxa, Matthew Miller, Owen Miller, David Dorosh, Amanda Turpin and Emily Clements."The candlelighting ceremony is symbolic as each candle represents a quality essential for all honor society members," said adviser Nadine Harbove.Installation officers included Andrew Frable, president-elect; Britteny Marzen, vice president-elect; Brandi Beers, secretary-elect; Katelynn Scott, treasurer-elect; Skylar Rutan, reporter and Kayla Bumberger, junior representative.
