Letters of interest are being accepted to fill an empty seat on Lehighton Borough Council.

The borough will accept letters of interest from candidates until April 29 after Councilman Jared McEvoy turned in his resignation letter to the borough this past Friday, effective immediately.

Borough manager Nicole Beckett said McEvoy resigned because he has relocated. McEvoy had served on council since January 2016.

Candidates must be a registered elector of the borough and reside in the borough continuously for at least one year before appointment.

They must also complete a residency affidavit form with the borough secretary.

Submit letters of interest to: Nicole Beckett, Borough Manager, Borough of Lehighton, One Constitution Avenue, PO Box 29, Lehighton, PA 18235.

Council’s next scheduled meeting is 7 p.m. May 6.
