A Monroe County man is the victim of a phone scam.

State police at Lehighton said a 51-year-old man from Effort, Polk Township, reported he received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the U.S. Marshals. The victim was told to mail cash to an address in New Jersey. The man sent them $8,800, troopers said.
