Local Roundup: Results from April 6-7
Jim Thorpe and Northwestern both gained wins in baseball and softball over the weekend.
BASEBALL
Weatherly-Jim Thorpe
Noah Snisky had a big game at the plate to help lead Jim Thorpe to an 11-0 non-league win over Weatherly.
Snisky finished with a single and double, knocking in three runs while also scoring three times.
The Olympians (3-3) also received two hits, a run and an RBI from Colin Binder, while Zach Serafoss had a hit and two RBIs, and Jared Joyce added a hit and two runs scored.
Jared Marykwas tossed three shutout innings for the pitching win. He allowed two hits and struck out two.
The Wreckers (1-2) received a pair of hits from Fairchild.

Pen Argyl erupted for seven runs in the first inning and held on for a 9-6 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.
Nolan Dieter finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Nick Guerriere knocked in two runs for the Green Knights.
For the Bulldogs, Caleb Wanamaker had three hits, one a double, scored a run and knocked in one. Chase Misera and Aaron Rudolph each added two hits and a run.
The loss dropped Northern Lehigh to 2-5.

Bloomsburg-Marian
Marian pounded out 15 hits en route to a 13-6 non-league victory over Bloomsburg.
Matt Doherty led the Colts with three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Chris Latoff had two hits, two runs and an RBI. Quest Wilson contributed three hits, one a double, and two runs, and Brandon Cann added two hits, one a triple.
The Colts, who erased a 4-0 deficit with an eight-run third inning, also received two RBIs and two runs scored from Alex Kubishin.
Marian is now 2-1.

Despite collecting 13 hits, Lehighton dropped a 7-5 non-league decision to Saucon Valley.
The Indians’ Lucas Sanguiliano had two doubles, while Logan Wentz added two hits, one a double. Tyler Lilly and Radny Bonjiorno both chipped in with a pair of singles.
Jared Thatcher paced the Panthers with four hits, including a double.
The loss dropped Lehighton to 2-4.

Holmes slugged a solo homer in the fifth inning and added a double. Carter Welch struck out 11 in six innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run.
The Tigers (6-1) also received two hits, one a double, and two RBIs from Nate Goodolf, while Nick Henry and Colten Hagadus each finished with a pair of hits.

A three-run inning by Berks Catholic was enough to game a 3-1 non-league win over Tamaqua.
The Blue Raiders received a pair of hits from Mike Bonetsky, while Brayden Knoblauch had a hit and a run scored and Nate Wickersham finished with a hit and an RBI.
The loss dropped Tamaqua to 2-5.

Wade Haydt pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Palmerton to a 7-0 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.
Haydt walked just one and struck out six as the Blue Bombers improved to 3-2.
Tyler Roe and Devyn Rehrig each had a hit and two RBIs for the winners, while Ryan King scored two runs. Zach Silfies chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

Bangor-Northwestern
Anna Akelaitis delivered a game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday to give Northwestern a 3-2 Colonial League win over Bangor.
Molly Mitman singled with two outs in the home seventh. After a stolen base, Akelaitis came through with her clutch hit.
Akelaitis finished with two hits and a run scored, while Morgan Farthing chipped in with a hit and an RBI.
Emily Akelaitis allowed just four hits and struck out 12 to earn the pitching win.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 6-2.

Shyanna Williams added two hits, one a double, and a run, while Brianna Schuck chipped in with a double, two RBIs and a run. Hailie Krasenics contributed three hits, one a triple, and two runs.
Alicia Horn allowed six hits and struck out six to earn the pitching win.

Cierra Kunkle had three hits, one a triple, a pair of RBIs and scored a run, while Alexis Scott added three hits, two RBIs and a run.
The Indians (3-3) also received two hits from both Sam Gruber and Kenra Peterman.

Jim Thorpe grabbed its first victory of the season, outscoring Shenandoah Valley by a 16-9 score.
The Olympians received a double, triple and three RBIs from Nadya Soliman. Carsen Rosenberger added two hits, one a double, and four RBIs, while Jada Mahmde blasted a home run and knocked in two.
Kaitlin Day, the game’s winning pitcher, helped her own cause with a single and double at the plate.

Jules Lopez scored her 200th career goal during Pleasant Valley’s 15-14 victory over Nazareth.
Lopez scored eight goals for the Bears, who improved their record to 5-2.
Alexandra Bush finished with three goals and three assists for PV, while Hayle Stintsman added a pair of goals and a helper.
Northampton-Northwestern
Northampton locked down on defense in the second half, defeating Northwestern by a 10-9 score.
The Tigers, who received three goals from Baylie Alley, scored eight times in the opening half but were held to just one in the second.
Sarah Schultz added a pair of goals for Northwestern (0-4), while Bailey Scheffler had a goal and an assist.
For Northampton, Eliza Rogerson scored five goals.
