Weatherly Area school board takes action

Weatherly Area School Board on Wednesday approved the following:

• The resolution urging legislative action on School Employee Pension Reform by the board of directors.• A request from Lisa Weston, cafeteria aide, for an unpaid leave of absence beginning April 27 through the end of the year for medical reasons.• Laura Price as substitute teacher for grades four through eight.• The board approved the Nutrition Group contract for 2015-16 with a guaranteed profit of $9,549 with lunch prices remaining the same at $2.10 for the elementary and middle school and $2.25 for the high school. Board member Matthew vonFrisch abstained.• Announced June 5 as graduation date for Class of 2015.• Extended School Year Program to eligible students from July 6 to 30 from 8 to 11 a.m.• Approved the use of facilities for Weatherly Little League preseason workouts for youth baseball/softball teams in the high school gymnasium. Facilities will be used when available after consultation with athletic director Scott Zoscin, beginning in April.• Approval of lease agreement for a Toshiba 5560ct copy machine provided by Advanced Business Equipment between Digital Leasing and Weatherly School District at $161.50 per month for 60 months.• The utilization of $200,000 of committed fund balance for extraordinary health care costs to be deposited into the IU 21 Trust. Board member Gerard Grega opposed the action.• The board also approved the payment of bills from the general fund, totaling $1,012,587.15; from the cafeteria fund, totaling $25,023.78; and from the student activities/athletic fund, totaling $2,265.37.
