Carbon County court - DUI cases

Seven defendants charged with driving under the influence entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court last week.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:Theresa Mary Kopecki, 52, of King of Prussia, Montgomery County, and formerly of Albrightsville, pleaded to two DUI charges.She was arrested on March 14 along Route 534 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.12 BAC. The second arrest occurred on May 9 along Route 903 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.13 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Kopecki could apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program (house arrest).Keith Randy Bellis Jr., 34, of Schnecksville, Lehigh County, was arrested on June 7 along Route 248 eastbound in Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.15 BAC.A first offense for sentencing purposes, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Terry Lee Wallace, 54, of Palmerton, was arrested on Dec. 7, 2014, along Fireline Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.30 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Wallace could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Jay Michael Miller, 22, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 9 along Route 248 at Parryville by state police at Lehighton after being involved in an accident. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could get a D&A evaluation.Rebecca Ann Barnhart, 21, of Palmerton, was arrested on July 4 along Franklin Street in Weissport by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.She was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, and render 25 hours of community service.She began the jail term immediately.Matthew C. Kreimoyer, 25, of Brooklyn, New York, and formerly of Palmerton, was arrested on Dec. 16, 2012, along Hahns Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.21 BAC. He was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violating conditions.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation.Gregory Andrew Shive, 21, of Albrightsville, was arrested on May 8 in the area of Maury and Long Run roads in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to possession of drug paraphernalia.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
