In other action, Walker Township's board of supervisors on Thursday:

• Hired Doug Springer as a part-time officer at the rate of $14.50 an hour.• Announced that the township engineer and road master will meet next week to look at and plan road projects for this year, and to prepare the bids for the projects.• Announced that the township's planning commission is continuing to work with the Eastern Schuylkill Regional Planning Commission to update its zoning and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances. They are specifically looking at water extraction ordinances and medical marijuana growing ordinances.The next township planning commission meeting is scheduled for June 22, while the ESRP is scheduled to meet July 11.• Announced the New England Fire Co. No. 1 will conduct an Open House and spaghetti dinner from noon to 3 p.m. today (Saturday).
