A Tamaqua man faces charges following a domestic incident in the borough on Feb. 12.

Cpl. Dwayne Hacker was dispatched to 326 N. Railroad St. at 11:45 p.m. after the Schuylkill County Communications Center received a call from Sally Roberts, stating her husband was outside, banging on the doors and windows. Once on scene, Cpl. Hacker observed a smashed wooden bench on the front porch, as well as damage to the mailbox and the front door jamb.Allegedly when he spoke with Mrs. Roberts, she was visibly upset and said her husband, John Scott Roberts, 51, had been steadily drinking throughout the day, causing the couple to argue.Police reports state that when he left the house at 7 p.m., he made several threats toward her and her family. When he came back later, the doors were locked and he began banging on the door and window.At on point, he allegedly picked up the wooden bench and used it as a battering ram on the door and mailbox. He left the area when she called police.Rush Township Patrolman Adam Sinton arrived to provide mutual aid and began canvassing the area for John. He found the suspect hiding behind a pole in a doorless garage located between the Roberts' home and the Tamaqua Train Station.Roberts was cited for public drunkenness and harassment.
