Schuylkill County Court

A Tamaqua man was sentenced to one to 23 months in Schuylkill County Prison, Judge James P. Goodman ruled April 29.

Joseph A. Spencer

, 46, was arrested March 15, 2018, by Tamaqua Police Department officer Karl Harig and charged with two counts of simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief/damage of property. In court, Spencer was found guilty of one count of simple assault and criminal mischief.

Goodman sentenced him to one to 23 months, with permission to participate in the work-release program. Spencer must pay $99.48 restitution to the injured party and $50 to the criminal justice enhancement act. He must pay a $300 fine on the criminal mischief charge. He must undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and have no contact with his victim.

On April 25, Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin sentenced men from Kunkletown and Allentown for offenses committed in West Penn Township.

James M. Rodgers

, 38, Kunkletown, was accepted into the ARD Program. Rodgers was arrested June 10, 2017, by West Penn Township Police Chief Brian Johnson on a bad checks charge. Rodgers must pay $356.16 restitution to Randy Miller, pay $50 to the CJEA, pay a $50 a month supervision fee and pay $350 to defray the cost of the ARD program. He will be on probation for 12 months and must perform 10 hours community service.

Juan R. Gonzalez

, 68, Allentown, was arrested July 4, 2018, by West Penn Township Police officer Anthony Houser and charged with DUI/general impairment, DUI/highest rate, reckless driving, BAC 0.02 or higher, fourth offense.

On the DUI/highest rate, Gonzalez must pay a $500 fine, $50 to the CJEA, $100 to the substance abuse education fund, and $520 to Lehigh Valley Health Network. He must attend Alcohol Highway Safety School and participate in outpatient treatment for a period of two-three months. He was sentenced to 48 hours to six months in Schuylkill County Prison, with immediate parole to be granted after 48 hours. His license will be suspended for 12 months and he must perform 10 hours of community service.
