Nashville recording artist, singer/songwriter and now published author, Robert Hunter, will join forces with the Lehighton Outdoor Center, to bring a one-of-a-kind experience to the area on Saturday.

Hunter, inspired by his wife Becky’s (Cunfer) brave battle with cancer, released his third studio album and tandem novel this past spring.

“Becky is tenacious. I admire her courage and tenacity. We’ve had a lot of fun on the road, and I feel so grateful I get to do this with her,” Hunter said.

Becky was diagnosed in 2016 with an aggressive form of cancer. In the middle of her battle, she insisted Hunter release his novel and record that she loved.

“We are one of the first people to release a book and CD. It gives us a chance to bring books to the music venue,” Hunter said.

Hunter describes the book as a love story.

“The river guide takes the main character on a wild adventure,” he says.

His first venture in the literary world, “Relapse,” has made it to the Amazon Best Seller list.

The studio album, “Revival,” is a recorded work filled with honest sentiments.

Though Hunter doesn’t stray far from the style he established in his first two records, his voice is radio ready. The album’s tracks are the expected safe country/rock crossover pathos and melodies, and while there aren’t any risks in the musical progressions or lyrics, there is an honest and emotional core to his vocal delivery like in “I don’t want to lose you now.”

Hunter and Becky decided to promote this double release with a country-crossing RV tour, hitting all 50 states in 52 weeks.

“It’s been the crazy adventure. Nights in campgrounds that shouldn’t be campgrounds,” Becky said.

“It’s not just about promoting, but giving Becky the adventure of a lifetime. She deserves it,” Hunter said.

“It’s also giving back to people. We are donating proceeds from one of our songs to the American Cancer Society. The whole thing has been very humbling,” he said.

This Saturday the husband and wife duo will revisit the place where they first met: the Lehigh River.

Becky, a Lehighton native, had been a raft guide when Hunter met her years ago.

Saturday’s event will begin at the Lehighton Outdoor Center, where participants will gather at 8 a.m., and spend five hours on the water before gathering for a live acoustic fireside performance.

After six months of intense chemotherapy and surgery, Becky is now in remission.

“I’m healthy and happy and excited to be here and seeing the country,” she said.

“The message is live life to the fullest because it’s not guaranteed,” said Becky.

Anyone who ventures out on the Lehigh River with the couple on Saturday will enjoy an acoustic performance of alternative country rock.

“It’s all original stories from the road,” Hunter said. “I play the bigger hits that people know, like ‘Ditto Baby,’ but there is one song I always play, that has never been recorded on an album. It’s special, I save it for live performances.”
