The Tamaqua 10-11 baseball all-star team saw its season end this weekend in the Section 6 Tournament.

The District 18 champions, under the direction of Scott Hamm, traveled to Richboro for the four-team tourney which also featured Warwick, East Stroudsburg and Pennridge.Tamaqua opened the double-elimination competition on Thursday, dropping a 15-3 decision to District 30's Warwick.After being rained out on Friday, the local squad rebounded with an 8-5 comeback win over East Stroudsburg. Tamaqua pushed across seven runs in the fifth inning to offset a deficit and stay alive in the tournament.Hoping to advance to the championship round with a win on Sunday, Hamm's team unfortunately fell to District 20's Pennridge by a 10-8 score."Our kids gave it a good run," said Hamm. "We got a tough draw in facing a powerful Warwick team, but then we fought hard and came back to beat East Stroudsburg."We had chances against Pennridge but just came up short. We played really hard. I'm proud of the team and their run and we're looking forward to next year."In Sunday's game against Pennridge, Tamaqua fell behind 5-0 in the first. The locals, however, battled back to knot the score. Pennridge regained the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth and held on for the victory.Matt Gazdick hit a pair of homers and knocked in four runs for Tamaqua while Brady Moser went 4-for-4 with a double. Matthew Kistler contributed two hits, one a triple, while Cody Hamm and Nate Boyle each added two hits, with one being a double.Warwick and Pennridge will now battle for the Section 6 championship with the winner advancing to states.
